FX Drops Trailer for ‘Pose’ Final Season (TV News Roundup)

FX released a trailer for the third and final season of “Pose,” which will debut on May 2.

Nearly two years after Blanca Evangelista’s (Mj Rodriguez) triumphant return to the ballroom, she gets a new job working at a hospital, while newly-engaged Angel (Indya Moore) and Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) seem happy as ever. Following a health scare last season, Pray Tell’s (Billy Porter) fate is up in the air. “I knew this disease was gonna eat me alive, but I’m not going out without a fight,” he says in the trailer. Also in today’s TV news roundup, Showtime announced a virtual farewell event featuring the cast of “Shameless,” taking place April 11 at 7 p.m. PT., immediately following the series finale. Showrunner John Wells will join cast members William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Christian Isaiah, Noel Fisher and Kate Miner for the event, which is open to all fans at GallagherHouse.com. The two-part experience will begin with a reunion, with the cast discussing how they earned their now-iconic roles and what it was like ending an 11-season story. Fans will also be able to virtually explore the Gallagher home, a feature that will remain available beyond the finale event.

Peacock announced that the new original comedy series “Girls5eva” will premiere on May 6. The show follows a one-hit-wonder girl group from the ‘90s — now grown women balancing spouses, jobs and kids — reuniting after a young rapper samples their song. The series stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell and Busy Philipps. Creator Meredith Scardino executive produces with Jeff Richmond, Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, David Miner and Eric Gurian. “Girls5eva” is produced by Universal Television. Watch the brand new trailer below.

AMC Plus released the trailer for its upcoming original series, “Spy City,” premiering in the U.S. on April 15. The six-part series, which follows a Cold War-era English spy on a mission to find out the source of a security leak, stars Dominic Cooper, Romane Portail, Leonie Benesch and Johanna Wokalek. “Spy City” is created and written by William Boyd and directed and photographed by Miguel Alexandre. Boyd, Cooper, Bill Block, Thomas Augsberger, Michael Schuld, Sven Philipp, Wolfgang Feindt and Annika Schmidt serve as executive producers. Anand Tucker and Colleen Woodcock serve as co-producers, with Andrea Wetzel serving as line producer and Mischa Hofmann, Britta Meyermann and Ann-Kathrin Eicher as producers. New episodes will premiere weekly on AMC Plus each Thursday.

Comedy Central released a first look at “Doing the Most with Phoebe Robinson,” a new interview-based series that follows Robinson embarking on wild adventures and new experiences with celebrities. In the video, Robinson visits Whitney Cummings’ farm and meets goats and donkeys. They take Cummings’ pig, Hamlet, for a walk and talk about dating and motherhood.

The Banff World Media Festival announced an exclusive “In Conversation With” session featuring Channing Dungey, Greg Berlanti and Kaley Cuoco. Dungey, the new chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group, will talk with producer Berlanti and producer-actor Cuoco about comedic thriller series “The Flight Attendant.” The virtual festival, which takes place from June 14 to July 16, will connect the global media industry to ignite new projects and support business development.

AMC Networks announced the launch of its AMC Plus subscription bundle on YouTube TV, allowing millions of YouTube TV customers access to AMC’s original programming and content. Subscribers of the AMC Plus bundle get thousands of hours of commercial-free content and access to shows like “The Walking Dead,” “Mad Men” and “Gangs of London.” AMC Plus also offers a wide variety of network and SVOD content from BBC America, Shudder, Sundance Now, IFC Films Unlimited and more.

Paramount Plus’ “The Good Fight” has cast Wayne Brady in the show’s upcoming fifth season. Brady will recur on the drama series as Del Cooper, an executive at a top streaming service who becomes romantically and professionally involved with one of the lawyers at the firm. Cush Jumbo and Delroy Lindo will return in the fifth season’s premiere to close out their characters’ storylines, as Season 4 was cut short due to the pandemic.

Raff Law has joined the cast of Apple Studios’ “Masters of the Air,” a limited series about American World War II bombers who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep. The series, which also stars Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle and Nate Mann, will debut on Apple TV Plus. Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman executive produce, with John Orloff and Graham Yost writing the script based on the book by Donald L. Miller. Cary Fukunaga will direct the first three episodes.

Apple TV Plus will release a special standalone episode from workplace comedy “Mythic Quest” on April 16. Entitled “Everlight,” the episode will debut just ahead of the series’ Season 2 premiere on May 7. Guest star Sir Anthony Hopkins will lend his voice to the episode. Following the events of the “Mythic Quest: Quarantine” special episode, the new 30-minute story sees the creative team returning to the office for their annual Everlight party, with Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) and Ian (McElhenney) rigging a live-action role play tournament in favor of the underdog. Co-creators Charlie Day and Megan Ganz, Michael Rotenberg, Nicholas Frenkel, Jason Altman, Danielle Kirk, Gérard Guillemot and Hornsby also serve as executive producers. “Mythic Quest: Everlight” was written by Burch and McElhenney, who also directed.

Chelsea Clinton has teamed up with iHeartRadio for the original podcast “In Fact with Chelsea Clinton, which will debut April 13. On “In Fact with Chelsea Clinton,” Clinton will discuss the impact of public health, highlighting various health crises through the years, and feature new guests in each episode, from actor and activist Jane Fonda to “Queer Eye’s” Jonathan Van Ness, Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser. “Let’s Be Real” will return to Fox beginning April 29 at 8:30 p.m. Following last fall’s comedy special, the new episodes will cover the year’s politics and pop culture news through topical sketches, celebrity cameos, remote pieces and lots of puppets. Previously featured puppets, such as President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former president Donald Trump, former vice president Mike Pence and Kanye West will return alongside new puppets including Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Sen. Ted Cruz, Kim Kardashian and LeBron James. The show is written and executive produced by Robert Smigel, and produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment and Propagate Content.
