This the heart-stopping moment a Tesco shop worker takes down a knife-wielding man as he wrestles with police in the middle of a busy high street.

The man was floored with a well-timed leg sweep by the supermarket employee in Pinner, north west London.

In the shocking footage, the man manages to stand up after being tasered by officers, only to be taken down from behind to cheers from shoppers.

Scotland Yard said a man, 52, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray, and was later arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.

The incident has not been declared as terror-related but Counter Terrorism police officers are helping with the investigation, a police spokeswoman said.

Neighbourhood group UB1UB2 released video footage of the incident on Instagram.

They wrote: “Police just arrested a knife-wielding male on Pinner Road, HA2.

“In the first clip, despite being tasered the man was able to get up…luckily the Tesco employee floored him and saved the police officer.”

Tesco said it would not comment on an ongoing police investigation.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said officers were called to Pinner Road at 9.36am on Friday.

“Officers attended and arrested a 52-year-old man at the scene for affray, he was further arrested at 2.36pm,” she said.

“The matter has not been declared a Counter Terrorism incident however Counter Terrorism police officers are assisting local borough command unit officers with their enquiries.”
